Bridging the GAP: Technologies to Improve Pasture Management and Winter Feeding

(Updated: Nov. 26, 2024, 4:24 a.m.)
Technologies:
  1. Temporary fencing is a versatile tool that allows management of livestock, specially grazing cattle, in the landscape.
  2. Bale grazing provides the opportunity for winter feeding of livestock on the pasture while improving nutrient distribution in the landscape.
  3. Frost-seeding allows establishment of forages, specially legumes such as clovers, earlier than regular planting dates and it is a low-cost effective strategy to establish forages.
  4. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) provide the opportunity to conduct field activities, such as seeding or spraying, during times of the year when field conditions would not be adequate for ground equipment.
Join us for a field day at Butner Beef Field Laboratory to learn and see demonstrations for these four technologies. Registration is limited to 80 people.
